MAR 2024

We are thrilled to announce that our office architecture studio's proposal, 'Re-Gen Hub 綠聚,' has been awarded the merit in The Open Call Competition for Pavilion of the 'RE: Tai Kok Tsui' public art and community art project!

Inspired by the rich historical and urban character of Tai Kok Tsui (TKT) and our commitment to sustainability, we have designed an interactive, flexible, educational, and engaging pavilion for all stakeholders.

TKT is a district with a unique blend of old and new, where residential and commercial areas intersect. Situated between two MTR stations, our site represents the essence of TKT, "the hidden place." We saw this as an opportunity to create a linkage, connecting the separated neighborhoods and providing additional social and resting spaces for the community.

Our pavilion design is a reinterpretation of vernacular workshop huts, paying homage to the squatter factories that reflect the history of TKT and Hong Kong. The pavilion serves as a shelter for the public while maintaining porosity and flexibility for various functions.

The design is crafted to enhance sustainability and social engagement. The facade features open modular shelves, allowing public engagement in upcycling and recycling activities. Visitors can fill the shelves with bottles, participate in beverage carton recycling workshops, and even contribute to decorative panels for the facade. Additionally, recycled crates are used as plant pots, creating a connection to nature within the pavilion structure.

The covered area is designed to be flexible and multi-functional, accommodating various activities such as resting, learning, performing, gathering, exhibitions, and events. The open plan layout can be easily adapted for different uses, always facing the central stage. It also serves as an outdoor alternative for lunch and rest, promoting social inclusion and community engagement.

We are grateful for this recognition and look forward to bringing our vision of a sustainable and interactive hub to life in Tai Kok Tsui. Thank you to The Open Call Competition and all our supporters!
